Malaysia Super League Introduction
The Malaysia Super League or in Malay language, Liga Super Malaysia is the top level professional association football league in Malaysian football league system. Super League or Liga Super is played by twelve teams/clubs and works on a system of promotion and demotion with the Liga Perdana or Liga Premier which is managed by the Footbal Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership (FMLLP).
The first ever season was started in 14 February 2004. Basically, the seasons start from the month of Feb to Oct. If it happens that the Ramadhan falls in between the months, there will be a season breaks for a month. For each team, they have to play a total of twenty two matches which include twice match between their opponent, home and away. There are some cases where a team has to play home at a different stadium. To sum up, there are a total of 132 games can be enjoyed by the fans in each season. Most of the games are played on Saturdays and in a few cases on Friday and Sunday. Most of the teams are made of Malaysia own states.
This professional competition was established in the year 2004 as a result of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to privatisation of the league. The Malaysia Super League Sendirian Berhad was established in order to manage the marketing parts of the league, but then, it was not totally privatised until 2015, when FMLLP was established to privatise the Malaysian football league system.
The league still retain its name for 2016 season as Liga Super Malaysia without title sponsorship.
